BiographyThe year was 1999 when a combination of ingredients became what was the HDD now. It was the third year of middle school, students are reshuffled and streamed into different classes according to specialized subjects. Thomas Li, Lim Weijian and Koh Lixian who were already best of friends in their first two years were split into two different classes. Thomas and Weijian were streamed into class ‘3E' and it was there where they noticed Ferryanto, a bespectacled obese guy whom they scantly remembered was actually their classmate for the previous two years. Together with another guy called Tan Weiheng they formed a group in the class, being notoriously famous for failing math subjects and not bothering to hand in homeworks given by their tutors. Lixian, in class ‘3G', on the other hand was not alone. He struck up a friendship with people in his class which consist of Andy Chor, Gunawan The Kim Boon Tirtakusuma Zheng Qing Wen (who also happens to be Thomas' primary school classmate), Mark Teo and Tan Liang Ji. As the classes were just adjacent to each other, they would visit each other's classes after curriculum time. And it was through the frequent visits that these two groups were bonded into one. Sharing similar interests with a taste for absurd humor, they all would establish a strong friendship that encompasses 8 years and still counting… As what they would always say, “The rest is history.” Fast forward to 2007, most remained in Singapore but some had left for other parts of the world. Ferryanto furthered his studies in Canada while Lixian and Andy left for the land Down Under ( Australia ). Nevertheless the HDD spirit is still strong, with the proof of a tri-national musical collaboration created by Ferryanto featuring a list of covers of contemporary music sung by each and every member of the HDD. In July 2007 the HDD reunion was completed with the visit of Ferryanto from Canada (with the exception of Andy Chor). It was over a month of chill out sessions coupled with a trip to Bintan that the second HDD album came to birth. Reminiscing the old times with the glory days of yesteryear still crystal clear, everyone felt that the years seemed like days ago. It was as if God had altered the fabric of time just for the privilege of this interesting bunch of characters. Though the reunion was short-lived, the bonds between these groups of people were further galvanized and strengthened. This website is a testament of the ongoing friendship of the members of HDD.
